Zusammenfassung:	The camouflage system has a structured surface facing the observer. This comprises two groups of discrete areas. Areas in the first group are directed downwards, forming an angle alpha of 5 degrees -45 degrees with the vertical. Those of the second group are directed upwardly, making an angle beta with the vertical of 50 degrees -85 degrees . The sum alpha + beta is less than 90 degrees An Independent claim is included for the corresponding method, in which downwardly-directed surfaces of the object to be camouflaged are coated with a material of low IR emissivity. Those directed upwardly, are coated with a material of high IR emissivity.
