Bulk insulating material for e.g. insulating floors, comprises woody shavings of fibre-yielding plants coated with a mixture of organic polymer, e.g. polyhydroxy-butyrate, and plasticizers

Bulk insulating material consisting of the woody parts of fibre-yielding plants (shavings) is coated with organic polymers with the addition of plasticizers. Independent claims are also included for (a) a process for the production of this material (I) by treating the shavings with a solution of the polymer in a suitable solvent in a spray-mixing drum and then drying the product; (b) a process for the production of (I) by mixing the shavings with polymer powder or granules and then heating to the melting point of the polymer with further mixing.
