Zusammenfassung:In negative color photographic material with blue-, green- and red-sensitive silver halide (AgX) emulsions containing yellow, magenta and cyan couplers respectively, in which at least 90 mole% of the AgX is silver chloride (AgCl), a light-insensitive layer further from the base than any light-sensitive layer contains an optionally etherified or esterified 3-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-benzofuran-2-one (I). In negative color photographic material with blue-, green- and red-sensitive silver halide (AgX) emulsions containing yellow, magenta and cyan couplers respectively, in which at least 90 mole-% of the AgX is silver chloride (AgCl), a light-insensitive layer further from the base than any light-sensitive layer contains an optionally etherified or esterified 3-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-benzofuran-2-one of formula (I); R1 = hydrogen (H), alkyl or acyl; R2, R3 = (cyclo)alkyl, alkenyl, (het)aryl, halogen, OR4, SR5, NR6R7, nitro, cyano, SO2R8, COOR9 or COR10; R4, R5, R9 = (cyclo)alkyl, alkenyl or (het)aryl; R6, R7 = H, R4, COR10, COOR9 or SO2R8; R8, R10 = (cyclo)alkyl, alkenyl, (het)aryl or NR6R7; n, m = 0-4; or 2 R2 and/or R3 groups = a condensed carbocyclic or heterocyclic ring; or R1, R2 or R3 = a bond to a polymer chain; at least one of R2 or R3 preferably = a substituent in the para-position to the phenolic oxygen.
