Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:	A fuel feed system for a fuel injection internal combustion engine has a low pressure pump (12) in series with a high pressure pump (14) to supply the injectors (28). The low pressure pump is constantly driven by an electric motor and lifts fuel from the fuel tank. The high pressure pump is mechanically driven by the engine. During the starting phase the high pressure pump is switched off, and its inlet valve is opened, to provide a free flow path for the low pressure fuel to the injectors. A pressure sensor (29) near the injectors switches off the high pressure pump if the pressure is less than a preset level, during starting.
