Coated biodegradable material comprises a biodegradable hydrophilic matrix consisting of a material derived from a renewable resource into which a hydrophobic polymer has been incorporated before coating with a biodegradable hydrophobic polymer. An Independent claim is also included for bottles, films, packaging materials, tubes, rods, laminated films, sacks, bags, beakers, pharmaceutical capsules, granules or powders consisting of the coated biodegradable material. Beschichtete biologisch abbaubare Materialien, bestehend aus mindestens einer biologisch abbaubaren hydrophilen Matrix und mindestens einer biologisch abbaubaren hydrophoben Beschichtung, wobei (i) die biologisch abbaubare Matrix im wesentlichen aus einem nachwachsenden Rohstoff oder aus einem Umsetzungsprodukt eines nachwachsenden Rohstoffs besteht, (ii) die Beschichtung im wesentlichen aus einem hydrophobem bioabbaubaren Polymer besteht und (iii) vorgängig zur Beschichtung der Matrix in diese ein hydrophobes Polymer eingearbeitet wurde sowie daraus hergestellte geformte Gegenstände.
