The decoy (1) has a launcher provided with a dragline (3). The dragline is attached to an airplane. The dragline suspends infrared (IR) radiation in a spectral band relevant for IR homing heads. An air brake (10) comprises a delivering region that is adapted for IR radiation seen from the airplane behind the air brake. A front body portion (7) is provided with a radiation-producing material. A dragging eyelet (5) is provided in a region of the front body portion for recording a drag line. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a control unit for controlling of deployment velocity of dragline (2) a method for exposure of an IR decoy for a guard of an airplane. Weiterhin wird ein Verfahren zur Ausbringung des IR-Täuschkörpers vom Flugzeug aus in Abhängigkeit des Aspektwinkels angegeben.
