Assembly to apply a liquid or paste coating to the surfaces of a moving paper or cardboard web

The assembly (10) to apply a paste or liquid coating (18a,18b) directly to the surfaces of a moving web (12), especially of paper or cardboard, has a heater (20) in front of the application point (S) of the coating on the web in the direction (T) of web travel. The heater (20) is 20-400 cm in front of the coating application point (S). The heater (20) is an infra red heater and/or a hot air blower and/or a microwave radiator and/or a steam blower box. If the coating is to be applied to only one side of the web, the heater is positioned at the side of the web to be coated. On coating both sides, a heater (20a,20b) flanks the web to heat both surfaces. A sensor (22) registers the polish and/or smoothness and/or whiteness and/or thickness of the web (12), after the coating application point (S) in the direction (T) of web (12) travel. The sensor (22) signals are taken by a control (24) to set the action of the heater (20). The control (24) receives further signals, in addition to those from the sensor (22), such as to give the actual speed of web (12) movement. Einer Vorrichtung (10) zum direkten oder indirekten Auftragen eines flüssigen oder pastösen Mediums (18a, 18b) auf eine laufende Materialbahn (12), insbesondere aus Papier oder Karton, ist eine Heizvorrichtung (20) zugeordnet, welche in Förderrichtung (T) der laufenden Materialbahn(12) gesehen unmittelbar vor der Position (S) angeordnet ist, an welcher das flüssige oder pastöse Medium (18a, 18b) mit der Materialbahn (12) in Kontakt tritt.
