Zusammenfassung:NOVELTY - In the drive system for a cable twister, a longitudinal torsion unit (TE1) is alternately lengthened and shortened in longitudinal movements (LB) during the reversing rotary movements round the rotary axis (RA). The reversing torsion rotations are effected continuously by the longitudinal movement energy.- DETAILED DESCRIPTION - The longitudinal movement gives an additional return momentum on the torsion unit (TE1) in the untwisting direction. The longitudinal movements (LB) generate sufficient movement energy to match the energy lost by the twisting of a number of strands (VE1,VE4) at the twisting disk (VS). To start a reverse rotary oscillation, the torsion unit (TE1) is turned in advance in an initial direction of rotation (DR1) and then released. After the initial twisting, the torsion unit (TE1) is given a reversing rotation oscillation by periodic extension and contraction, with a number of rotations for the direction of rotation increasing in succession up to a constant operating rotary speed (VB). During the untwisting phase of the torsion unit (TE1), an additional draw tension force (F) is applied for an axial extension. During the twisting phase, it is generally relaxed on the axial line, or an additional axial force can be applied to assist contraction. The apparatus twists a number of strands (VE1,VE4) into left and right twists with a twisting disk (VS). The torsion unit (TE1) is used as a longitudinal store to feed the strands (VE1,VE4) to the twisting disk (VS), suspended between the twisting disk (VS) and a mounting (FV) along the rotary axis (RA). It can rotate freely at one end, while the other end is keyed against rotation. One end can slide along the rotary axis (RA) of the cable twister assembly (SZV). The direction change at the torsion unit (TE1) is effected by the application of a pull force (F) for its extension after it has been twisted with contraction. The unit is twisted with contraction and untwisted with an extension, giving the reversing and oscillating drive action for the twisting disk (VS), to give the cable the alternating left and right twists.- An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for a cable twisting assembly with a sliding mechanism (VER) to give the longitudinal movements (LB) to the contraction and expansion of the torsion unit (TE1), through the twisting and untwisting actions round the rotary axis (RA), with constant longitudinal movement energy.
