Metal halogen lamp esp. for sports stadiums

The metal halogen lamp has an electrode pair and a discharge vessel which is filled with at least one metal halide, amongst it at least one rare earth metal halide, excess halogen relative to the stoichiometry of the metal halide, mercury and a noble gas. The mercury quantity amounts to 7.7 to 9.9 mg per cc, which in turn amounts to excess halogen of 25% to 100% halogen atoms in the metal halide. The tube's rated output at 200 volts comes to 2 to 3 kilowatts. Actually, for 7.7 to 9.9, read 8.2 to 9.3 and for 25% to 100%, read 43% to 81%. The metal halide contains at least one of the rare earth metals dysprosium, thulium and holmium, at least one of the elements tellurium and caesium, plus at least one halogen.
