Zusammenfassung:The system includes a line interface circuit, to which a signal analyser is linked measuring a combined audio signal to determine if a fault exists in the subscriber's loop defined by the subscriber's building network and the line interface circuit. The line interface circuit generates the combined audio signal by combining a reflection and the reception audio signal. Preferably, the signal analyser measures the combined audio signal to determine if a fault is present in the subscriber's building network. Typically the reflection signal depends on an impedance at a signal ring line gate of the line interface circuit.
