Zusammenfassung: | Polymer particles which absorb water, aqueous fluids and serous fluids are claimed. The polymers comprise hydrogel polymers which contain carboxylate groups. The particles are crosslinked on the surface in the powder state. The particles may be prepared (i) by coating with at least one polyalkylene glycol in the hydrogel state, and (ii) with a surface crosslinker which is free of polyalkylene glycol. Also claimed is the preparation of particles (as described above) comprising: (a) moistening (at least partially) particles of a hydrogel of a water-absorbing polymer with at least one polyalkylene glycol, in direct form or in the form of a solution; (b) drying the mixture of polymer and polyalkylene glycol under conditions such that a powdery, flowable state is achieved; (c) optionally reducing the particle size of the dried, coated absorbent polymer, using mechanical means; (d) coating the dried particles of water-absorbent polymer with a surface crosslinker, in direct form of in the form of a solution; and (e) heating the coated, water-absorbent particles under conditions such that the surface crosslinker and carboxyl groups of the water-absorbent polymer react, resulting in crosslinking of the surface. |
