Zusammenfassung:The invention relates to a method for determining the change-over criterion between two operating states of a braking means pump in a vehicle brake system. A prepressure can be generated on the suction side of said braking means pump by means of a controllable brake booster which actuates the brake master cylinder. In addition, the braking means pump is required for the active build-up of a brake pressure, for example, for the driving dynamic controls. Said build-up is independent of the actuation of the brake pedal. The aim of the invention is to reduce the development of noise which results from excess generation of pressure. A fixed given value does not serve as a change-over criterion of the braking means pump, rather, a value which is determined according to a characteristic value (K) is used. In addition, the given standard characteristic curve for the relationship between the deceleration of the vehicle and a value which represents the pedal travel of the brake pedal are stored. A vehicle-specific comparison characteristic curve is established when the brake is actuated by assigning an obtained vehicle deceleration (aFzg) to a value (sMem) which represents the pedal travel of the brake pedal. The characteristic value (K) is then determined from the divergence established in this comparison.
