The frame comprises a U-shaped base (5) with bridge piece (6) on which a vertical column (7) is mounted. The length of the lever arms is adjustable. The ends of these arms have connections for a support belt. The lengths of the arms are altered while the arms are swung about their pivot axis. The required lengths of the arms, for a particular patient, are stored in an operating unit which moves the arms.
