Zusammenfassung:Preparation of polycondensate solutions (I) containing 0.1% 1,3-dichloro-propan-2-ol (DCP) comprises (a) reacting (a1) a 10-50% solution of basic polyamidoamine(s) and/or polyamine(s) with (a2) epichlorohydrin (II) at 10-25 deg C and a molar ratio of (II) to basic nitrogen (N) in (a1) of 0.5-0.85; followed by (b) further reaction at 10-25 deg C until the (II) conversion is \} 90-99%; then (c) reaction with more solution (a1) in a molar ratio of basic N to (II) of (1-1.2):1 and pH > 6 to complete conversion of (II); (d) heating to 30-70 deg C until the viscosity of a 15% solution is 30-100 mPas at 25 deg C; and (e) reacting the product with formic acid (HCOOH) and/or sulphuric acid (H2SO4) to give pH 2.0-3.0.
