The invention relates to a method for producing heat exchangers wherein several metal sheets (1, 2, 3, 1', 2', 1'', 3'') with similar coverings are placed on top of each other and are joined to each other by contour welding. The predefined contour is shaped outwards in at least one area (9, 9', 9'', 23) to form a continuous coolant channel (10, 11, 10', 11', 30, 32) whereby the contour is produced in a continuous line using a laser beam. Said contour has curves, at least in certain sections. Preferably, said contour consists of rectilinear and curved areas which are interconnected. Connnecting links are formed in between said areas.
