Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to a device for cleaning the tread elements of an escalator or rolling walkway, which device comprises cleaning elements acting on the individual tread elements. The invention provides for a device which can be driven approximately parallel to the tread elements in an oscillating manner. The invention also relates to a corresponding cleaning method and a method for cleaning the tread elements of an escalator or rolling walkway having a controllable drive mechanism by means of a cleaning device. According to said method the escalator or rolling walkway is controlled by signals emitted by the control unit of the cleaning device. The invention further relates to a device for carrying out said method.
