Zusammenfassung:The image tube (10) has a glass envelope (11) with a face-plate layer (12), a funnel (15) and a neck (14). The face plate layer has a transparent, rectangular screen carrier (18) for an electroluminescent screen (22) and a peripheral sidewall (20) fitted to the end of the funnel. The joint between the edge of the rectangular screen carrier and the peripheral sidewall has a thickness which varies along the sides of the screen carrier, from a maximum thickness at the centre of each side and a minimum thickness at each corner of the screen carrier.
