Zusammenfassung:	A relaxation device for non-Newtonian fluids, comprises a cylinder (2) with an adjustable purging member (1) which moves along the fluid flow axis and creates a narrower flow cross-section than the area behind, along the flow direction. In a process for degassing non-Newtonian fluids involving multi-stage relaxation; a plastic melt is compressed between two relaxation stages, with an additive to aid extraction of volatile substances added in a mixer prior to the next relaxation stage. Pressure in the mixing zone is controlled by the claimed relaxation device, arranged between the mixing zone and the next degassing stage.
