Zusammenfassung: | The heater uses the coolant circuit of the IC engine and has a heat exchanger (23) which is supplied with coolant from the engine. The heater is in series with the heat exchanger and provides additional heating e.g. during cold starting. An energy-efficient microwave heater (24) operates in a continuous mode when required. A flow control valve (27) regulates the coolant flow through the microwave heater to enhance the heating efficiency. The microwave heater has a microwave chamber lined with perforated metal to contain the microwave energy. An oscillator is mounted into the top of the chamber. The control valve ensures that the coolant has sufficient dwell time in the microwave chamber to be efficiently heated. |
