Zusammenfassung:Electrolysis cell has a mercury cathode and anodes which are arranged in the cell cover for movement perpendicular to the cell bottom, and provided with sealing devices extending into the electrolysis cell space so as to be at least partly immersed in the electrolyte. The cell is used for the prodn. of chlorine and sodium hydroxide. The sealing devices prevent the formation of salt deposits on the anodes. In addition, shorter anode rods can be used so that lower voltage reduction is experienced.
