Zusammenfassung: | Equipment for hardening an ultra-violet (UV) curable coating on a flat object, especially an optical information carrying disc (1), has one or more light sources (7) located above the flat object and transmitting light indirectly onto the UV layer, via a reflector system (2,3). Direct transmission of light to the object is prevented by one or more appropriately positioned barriers (4). Preferably the barrier (4) diverts light from the source (7) onto a mirror arrangement (2,3) behind the light source. Additional mirrors (5,6) may also be fitted, for separating UV from infra-red (IR) light, by reflecting the former and transmitting the latter. The angle of the mirrors (5,6) at the barrier (4) can be varied. Heat radiation from the light source (7) may be absorbed by the barrier if the latter incorporates a heat absorbing body and/or cooling fluid channels and/or cooling ribs over which an air flow passes. The mirror arrangement (2,3) behind the light source diverts at least part of the beam onto the object (1), and may include a flat plate mirror and/or a cylindrical mirror with either a circular, parabolic or elliptical cross-section. Beam focussing or a controlled distribution onto specific areas of the object (1) may be effected by different arrangements of the barrier (4) and the mirrors (2,3) behind the light source (7). |
