Continuous height adjustment device for work=surface, e.g table-top

The device includes an adjusting cylinder (4a,4b), which is arranged between a top part (8) of a table leg (3a,3b) and a bottom part (9) of the table leg. The adjusting cylinder contains a compartment defined by a longitudinally movable piston (5). The compartment (7) is filled with operating fluid and is connected to a compensating chamber (13) for the fluid. Each compensating chamber is contained in the cylinder (12) of a piston-cylinder unit and is defined by an operating cylinder of the piston-cylinder unit. Both piston-cylinder units are juxtaposed in the same direction and the cylinders and pistons mechanically rigidly connected.
