Portable unit for mechanised production of fillet welds along two axes

The portable unit for mechanised production of fillet welds along two axes is characterised by the following facts: (a) the motion of a welding torch (8) is achieved through two electro-motored axes (5, 6) whose angle relative to one another is adjustable; (b) these axes are arranged so that the first axis (5) is installed in a housing (7) and transports the second axis (6) during its motion in such a way that welding of two seam sections (1, 2) in succession, without an interruption, at separately adjustable speeds is possible; (c) the second axis (6) has a carriage (12) for the welding torch; and (d) the distance between the torch tip and the weld seam is controlled by distance pieces (4) and positioning elements (13). The portable unit is provided with a holding element (11) whose function is to reliably maintain the position of the unit relative to the centre of gravity which varies during the welding process. The unit further incorporates switching elements (9, 10) which independently of one another determine the length of the seam in the two sections (1, 2). There is a choice between a purely positioning motion of the torch and a motion coupled with the welding process.
