Zusammenfassung:	A mechanism turns a camshaft actuating at least some of the valves of the engine. On normal stopping of the engine, measures can be taken to bring the camshaft on restarting into a suitable position. In the case of the abnormal shut down of the engine, the fuel injection is stopped until the camshaft has reached the starting position. Injection can be arranged to take place only on fulfilment of a further criterion, e.g. the time lapse since the preceding stop, the camshaft position detected by a sensor, a particular temperature of the engine or intake air, and/or torsional vibration in the camshaft.
