Zusammenfassung:	In order to optically control in an automatic manner the quality of tiles and similar products with a reflecting or partially reflecting surface, a colour check and a surface check are carried out. During the colour check, the surface of each tile is recorded by an electronic colour camera, and the colour nuance of the tile is determined from the electric image signals supplied by the colour camera by point-by-point colour classification. During the surface check, the image of a light pattern reflected by the surface of the product is recorded by an electronic camera and the electric image signals supplied by the camera are evaluated to recognise changes in brightness or colour caused by surface defects.
