Zusammenfassung:A process for the production of substituted indanones of formula (Ia) and (Ib) comprises reacting compounds of formula (IIa) or (IIb) respectively in one step with a compound of formula (III) in the presence of a Friedel-Crafts catalyst. H2C=C(C(O)X)-R (III) R -R = hydrogen, 1-4C alkyl, 1 - 4 C fluoroalkyl or 1 - 4 C alkylsilyl, or silyl, phenyl or benzyl; or R and R plus attached carbon atoms may form a benzene ring; R = 1-10C alkyl, phenyl or (1-4C alkyl)-phenyl; and X = chlorine, bromine or iodine.
