Zusammenfassung:The transmission has a torque converter (12) in line with an automatic gearbox (14) and with a bridging or lock-up clutch (24) which enables the engine (10) to be directly connected to the automatic gearbox. The clutch can be open or closed, or can operate in a slip mode. During travel up and incline the control system sets the clutch into the open position and provides a direct torque control. The travel up the incline is detected by monitoring the throttle setting and the road/engine speed and the gear settings. These parameters are compared with a stored set of values to determine if the change in speed is typical of travel along the flat or up an incline.
