Control unit housing for motor vehicle headlamp directional orientation

A control device for the light beam direction of a vehicle headlamp has a housing (4), an operating rod (1) extending partially into the housing and sliding relative to it plus an electric motor (2) with gearbox (3) inside the housing to drive the rod. The rod is at right angles to the output shaft of the motor and the gearbox has a worm (12) with pinions (7). The housing has two symmetrical half-shells. Its main body holds the motor and an extension holds the gearbox. The contact edges of the two shells in the gearbox region are parallel to the plane of the operating rod and the motor shaft, but are inclined for the main body, with the motor held by just one shell.
