Zusammenfassung:	The appliance (1) projects a light beam (4) on to the container (5) to be filled. The reflected light is measured by a photosensor (3) and fed to an evaluator. Along a carriage guideway (9) an ejector carriage (11) and a stop carriage (10) are arranged in series. In the vicinity of the stop carriage, a detector (12) is located for providing a contact signal. At 90 degrees to the carriage guideway, a spring supported pressure plate (15) is located. Between the plate and a centring device (14), provided with a measurement slit (25), the sensor (5) can be located.
