Zusammenfassung:	A bone marrow plug (1) has a tapered shaft body with a length of at least 40mm and a maximum diameter of between 10 to 20mm. The shaft body is formed as a hardened product of a calcium phosphate compound, eg. hydroxyapatite, having a molar ratio of calcium to phosphorous of 1.5 to 2.0, such as tricalcium phosphate or tetracalcium phosphate. The plug can be used to prevent a fracture of replaced joints and to seal the bone marrow from bleeding vessels.
