The module includes a transceiver module main housing with first and second ends. A receptacle housing defines a chamber and a grounding device for the receptacle has a ground surface which protrudes within the chamber. The ground surface is pref. attached to an arm moulded within the receptacle housing. A latch is attached adjacent to the first end of the transceiver module housing and a pluggable connector is attached at the second end. A first end of the receptacle housing has a door mounted which is hinged adjacent to the top surface of the receptacle housing. The transceiver module main housing consists of a potting box which contains a circuit board encased by potting material. The transceiver is mounted on the circuit board. Access to the transceiver is provided through a recess. The module housing is pluggable via release layers which have detentes received in apertures of the receptacle and a pluggable connector for the module mated within the receptacle. The receptacle includes a grounding clip which contacts a contact on the plug.
