Zusammenfassung:A process is disclosed for transmitting forces between two joined pieces (10, 12) by inserting a connecting element (18) into two corresponding openings (14, 16) of the two joined pieces. A first undercut on a connecting head (20) of the connecting element (18), which extends at an angle to the direction of transmission of forces, is placed on a first bearing surface which co-operates with the first joined piece. A connecting shaft (24) that extends from the connecting head (20) is inserted into the opening of the second joined piece (12). In order to develop such a process so that it may also be used for brittle materials, a first widened part of the connecting shaft (24), which forms a second undercut (42) opposite the first undercut (30), is inserted into the opening of the second joined piece (12) and the second undercut (42) is placed on a second bearing surface which co-operates with the second joined piece (12). While the second undercut (42) is inserted into the opening of the second joined piece (12), the connecting shaft (24) is compressed in the area of the widened part (34). The connecting shaft (24) has one longitudinal slit (48) that extends in the direction of the transmission of forces from an end surface (36) of the connecting element at the side of the shaft up to the level of the widened part (34).
