Zusammenfassung:	Fluorescent lighting lamps, and in particularly tubes, are supplied to a first stage 2 where conveyors 24,25 position the tubes to have the metal connecting ends removed. The transfer mechanism is such that the tube is moved transversely to the feed direction to present the ends to grinding wheels 21,28. The glass tube is then transferred into a second stage 4 which has a rotating drum crusher that breaks the glass into small particles. Lightweight particles are removed in an air stream supplied by a blower 8 and are transferred into a filter 7 and this removes 6 the dangerous products, such as mercury.
