Zusammenfassung:	The device has an electronic detector arrangement. The information contents from the detector are fed to an analyser and an access control device for processing. To detect e.g. the number of people and/or objects, at least one opto-electronically operated device is used and a monitoring field (7) is provided which is provided with an identifiable pattern. The optoelectronic device may be e.g. a video camera or CCD. The monitoring field preferably includes the floor (4) and the walls and doors, at least defining the floor area. This field may be divided into several different areas. the size of these areas may be adjusted by the analyser.
