Zusammenfassung:	A coater (1) for directly or indirectly applying a liq. or paste-form medium to a moving web (esp. of paper or board) has a coating beam (2) through which the medium flows and over whose entire length a supply passage for the medium extends. A number of connecting passages (8) running in a direction perpendicular to the length of the beam are arranged along its length (i.e. distributed across the width of the machine), and these carry controllable amounts of a diluent liq. from the beam assembly into zones of the coating medium supply passage.
