Zusammenfassung:	The spectacle lens grinding machine has a slide (10) with a stress axis in two sections (12B), between which the lens blank is fixed using a drive motor (60,66) and transmission units (54',28) for the driving force of the motor. One of the transmission units (54') can be moved on the slide in a direction parallel to the stress axis, and is supported on the slide via a reaction spring (80). There is an operating unit whereby the motor drive force, and thus the axial stress on the blank, can be altered, depending on the elastic deformation of the reaction spring.
