Effective roving partition on a full reel, provision of a good tail to spin

A method for separating roving before removal of full reels in a roving frame entails wrapping a thread reserve round the reel above the normal winding range and securing the roving existing between the drawing section exit and pressure finger by increased revolutions. The slubbing (6) is fixed by running reel (3) and flyer (1) synchronously and setting the drawing section (5) to feed only so much material that the roving is not shortened. The reel is then rotated in reverse at the same time as the reel carriage (4) is raised, both speeds being controlled so that material wound off the tube as a result of the reel movement is led tightly over the upper reel cone and given a false twist (9). The upwards movement of the carriage is continued as the reel is stopped and driven forwards till the pressure finger (2) is situated just before the lower cone so that the slubbing is separated by tearing. The end of the roving projecting from the pressure finger is pulled off after separation by the concluding or continuing forwards reel rotation because of the adhering effect of the fibres in the rotation direction.
