Zusammenfassung:	The invention pertains to a screening and protection device (10, 11) for gaps in walls, with hinged slats (12-19) which extend over the width of the gap, which fold accordion-style and whose front and back sides run horizontally when the device (10, 11) is in its retracted position. When the device (10, 11) is in its fully extended position, the front and back sides of the slats (12-19) are disposed vertically. These are functionally connected by actuating means (30, 40, 50), for example pressure and/or traction mechanisms. Each of the actuating means (31, 32, 33) operates one slat (13-19) or one pair of slats.
