Emulsions suitable as or vehicles for herbicides

Emulsions suitable as or vehicles for herbicides, pesticides and/or fungicides. M5-. Comprise a major amount of a liquid hydrocarbon as the dispersed phase and from 0.5 to 20 weight % of a phase comprising a polar organic liquid of dielectric constant greater than 25 and a solubility parameter greater than 10 , and up to 2.5 weight % of an emulsifying agent; opt. 15 weight % of water may be present. Suitable liquid hydrocarbons have a viscosity of less than 60, pref. less than 20 centistokes at 38 degrees C, e.g. a hydrocarbon oil of boiling point greater than 400 degrees C i.e. a synthetic oil or a petroleum oil. Suitable polar organic liquids are amides e.g. formamide alone or with urea, oxamide, or dimethylformamide or a mixture of polyols and urea, or dimethylsulphoxide, formic acid, glycerol or ethylene glycol. Suitable emulsifying agents are sorbital esters and/or an alkoxy derivative thereof, alkyl-phenyl polyethylen-glycol ethers, N-alkyl-trimethyl-ene-diamine dioleates.
