[Also in Division C4] An alkyd or polyester resin-based coating composition containing a drier also comprises a phosphoric acid ester or a metal or amine salt thereof, wherein R is C 1 -C 6 alkyl, Y is a di- or trivalent aliphatic or aromatic radical, and n and m are each 1 or 2. In Example 1, the dimethylcyclohexylamine salt of glycollic acid butyl ester phosphate (1 p.b.w.) is added as a brightening agent to a white paint consisting of a long oil linseed alkyd binder (57À5 p.b.w.), TiO 2 (35 p.b.w.), a Co-Pb-Mn naphthenate drier (1 p.b.w.) and white spirit (7 p.b.w.).
