[Also in Division C2] A method of treating areas infected with acarids or insects comprises applying thereto a compound of the formula: wherein R represents H, alkyl, NO 2 , halogen, OH, alkoxy, alkylthio or phenyl, R1 represents H, alkyl, NO 2 , halogen, OH or alkoxy, R2 represents H, CH 3 , halogen or alkoxy, R3 and R4 represent H, CH 3 or halogen, Y represents a divalent lower alkyl C 1-6 , lower alkenyl C 2-6 or lower alkynyl C 2-6 radical, and R5 represents an alkyl, alkenyl or cyclo alkyl radical, stated to be novel, together with a suitable diluent or carrier in the form of solutions, dispersions or dispersible powders. The preferred compound is 4-chloro-phenyl carbamyloxy-2-butyne.
