Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:1,214,088. Amines from N-substituted amides. ARMOUR INDUSTRIAL CHEMICAL CO. 1 Nov., 1968 [2 Nov., 1967], No. 51932/68. Heading C2C. Primary or secondary amines are prepared by reacting an N-substituted amide with ammonia to form the corresponding amine and an unsubstituted amide and dehydrating this amide to its corresponding nitrile to achieve separation of the amine from the amide. The N-substituted amide is preferably heated to 200-350‹ C. and reacted with NH 3 in a mole ratio of 2 : 1 to 70 : 1. Subsequently the unsubstituted amide formed may be carried in an NH 3 -stream through a catalyst such as bauxite to form a nitrile, e.g. at 200-350‹ C. Amongst numerous examples N-(tert-dodecyl) formamide is converted to N-(tert-dodecyl)amine, N,N- dioctyl acetamide to N,N-dioctylamine, macetotoluidide to toluidine and acetamidostearylamine to aminostearylamine.
