Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:1,221,464. Burners. INSTRUMENTATION LABORATORY Inc. 24 June, 1968 [12 July, 1967], No. 59792/69. Heading F4T. [Also in Division G2] A burner for atomic absorption analysis comprises a mixing chamber 82, Fig. 3, a burner nozzle 80 and fuel and oxidant lines 192, 190, the flow in which is controlled by circular unobstructed orifices. Chamber 82 has an inlet 172 for aspirating the sample and a frangible diaphragm 194 to guard against excess pressure. Air on line 160, Fig. 2, or N 2 0 on line 162 may be selected as oxidant by valves 168 and applied through a pressure regulator 176 and the circular orifice 178 for mixing with C 2 H 2 fuel similarly supplied on line 164. Switches 166 prevent flow if the pressure of any line is too low and an interlock 170 prevents operation unless a burner appropriate to the selected oxidant is positioned on the chamber 82. A line 182 provides a pilot fuel supply for ignition by a spark from structure 184, and if the flame is not detected by a sensor 186 within 12 secs., the fuel supply is cut off.
