Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:1,222,134. Coated polyolefin film. EASTMAN KODAK CO. 30 May, 1968 [5 June, 1967], No. 26000/68. Heading B2E. A polyolefin film has on at least one surface thereof a relatively thin coating comprising at least 80% by weight of a blend of ethylene/ vinyl acetate and ethylene/ethyl acrylate copolymers in a weight ratio, respectively, of from 0.3:1.0 to 1.0:0.7, the copolymers having melt indices of at least 5, the ethylene portions of the copolymers being the major components thereof and the amount of minor component in each copolymer being between 5 and 45% by weight. The melt indices are determined according to ASTM D-1238/62. and may be from 10 to 55. The amount of the blend of copolymers on the polyolefin surface may be from 0.2 to 15 grams per square metre of surface. The thickness of the coating may not exceed 3 mils. The coated film is heat-sealable or solvent sealable and may be used for packaging. The coated film may be prepared by applying a blend of copolymers to at least one surface of the polyolefin film and is bonded thereto by the application of heat. The blend of copolymers may be applied in an aqueous emulsion or in a solution, the volatile component or components of the emulsion or solution removed, and the blend of copolymers fused at a temperature not more than 10‹C. below the softening point of the polyolefin film. The coated film may be compression rolled to reduce it in thickness before or after removal of the volatile component(s). The film may be prepared from a poly-alpha olefin having from 2 to 10 carbon atoms such as polyethylene, e.g. low, medium or high density polyethylene, polypropylene, poly-1-butene. The copolymer blend may be applied by spraying, by dipping, by brushing, by roll coating techniques, or by using a wire-wound rod.
