Heading C2C. Thiophosphates of the formula where R is C 1-5 alkyl, X is halogen or a C 1-5 alkyl group, n is 0, or 1 to 5, and M is alkali metal, are prepared by reacting a phosphorothionate of formula with an alkali metal hydrosulphide of formula M.SH. The reaction is generally carried out in a solvent at a temperature of 50-200 C., using preferably 1À1-1À2 moles of hydrosulphide per mole of phosphorothionate. The products are useful intermediates.
