Zusammenfassung:1,239,783. X-ray apparatus. PICKER CORP. 5 Sept., 1968 [8 Sept., 1967], No. 42336/68. Heading H5R. An X-ray apparatus has movable shutters, 33 defining an aperture through which X-rays are directed to an object, e.g. patient 34 under examination, servo means for adjusting the relative positions of the shutters, and a selector having a plurality of discrete operative settings for selectively controlling the energization of the servo means whereby the shutters may define only apertures corresponding to a discrete number of preselected exposure sizes in accordance with the settings of the selector. The spot filmer 30 movable towards and away from the patient, contains a shown in more detail in Fig. 2, selector switch 66 rotatable so as to occupy any one of the positions illustrated on scale 80. The spot filmer may be adapted so that selection of one position controls the positioning of the record carrier, e.g. cassette, 42 in the X-ray beam and a sequence of exposures may be recorded in separate positions on the cassette by stepping the switch 66 through the series of positions. If desired one of the positions available to the switch 66 may be such that the shutter system 33 is then only responsive to the operation of the manual controls 70A, 70B. In the preferred embodiment the positioning of the switch 66 controls the positioning of a number of cams 74 which interact with a number of appropriately positioned contacts 76 to apply signals corresponding to the desired position to the servo means. The available switch positions may include, shutters fully open, shutters fully closed, four consecutive settings in which the shutter setting remains constant, i.e. both pairs half open, and the cassette carrier is positioned to expose different quandrants in turn; two pairs of settings in which one pair of shutters is either fully open or half shut, the second pair of shutters being correspondingly half shut or fully open, when the cassette carrier is positioned to consecutively expose either two halves of the film longitudinally divided or two halves of the film transversely divided. Other positions of the switch may be adapted to position the shutters in any given setting favoured by the radiographer. The spot film device 30 may be adapted to index the switch 66 through any given sequence automatically once the first of the sequence has been selected. The Specification describes a switch and resistance network by means of which the desired operation of the servo m
