Zusammenfassung: | 1,218,295. Alloys; coating by pack diffusion. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Sept.10, 1968 [Dec.14, 1967], No.42943/68. Headings C7A and C7F. A ternary alloy useful for coating surfaces by pack diffusion consists, by weight, of: - A1 20-48% combined C 05 - 9% uncombined C up to 3% Ti (min. 50%) and impurities - balance Impurities may be Ni, Mn, Cr and Fe in a total amount up to 2%. Articles such as jet engine parts of Fe, Ni or Co - base alloys (specific examples are given of Ni and Co alloys) are coated by heating them at 1200-2100 F. for 1-4 hours in contact with a particulate mixture consisting of (a) 20-90% by weight of the ternary alloy, (b) 10-80% by weight of an inert filler such as Al 2 O 3 , and (c) 0À1-10% by weight of a halide such as NH 4 or alkali metal halide or chromium fluoride. Al, Ti or both are deposited depending on the deposition factor (Al% + 2C% - Ti%/2) of the alloy. |
