[Also in Division D1] Bobbin sleeves 10 are secured to the spindles 13 by pressure exerted on slidable tubes 49 and 52 causing deformable O-rings to become wedged between the bobbin sleeves and the slidable tubes. Pressure is normally exerted on the slidable tubes 49 and 52 by spring 48 acting on piston 47. The bobbin sleeves are released by passing pressure fluid through bore 54 into chamber 56 so as to move the piston 47 and end tube 49 to the right. The pressure fluid also operates the spindle brake by filling chamber 55 and moving piston 39 carrying brake lining 40 into contact with ring 36 carried on the rotating spindle part. The pressure fluid is prevented from releasing the bobbin sleeve during braking since the brake piston 39 covers a bore leading to chamber 56 during the time that ring 36 is being braked.
