[Also in Division Gl] Apparatus for mixing two reagents in a calorimeter comprises a cylindrical or prismatic vessel with an upstanding partition 7 separating the reagents 8, 9, which are introduced through openings 10, 11. The partition is offset from the axis of the vessel and when the vessel is rotated about its axis, with the upper end of the partition leading, the reagent 9 is poured into the reagent 8 (Fig. 3, not shown). With further rotation, the partition passes the inverted position and submerges in the mixture, trapping air below it. On further rotation towards the horizontal position, the trapped air escapes as bubbles to agitate and mix the reagents further (Fig. 4, not shown). The vessel contains an electrical heating element 12. As described the vessel is a short cylinder sandwiched between thermopiles in a calorimeter (see Division G1).
