Novel phthalimido, phenylacetamido and formamido enamine compounds of the formula wherein R is a t.-butyl radical and Y is a phthalimido, phenylacetamido or formamido radical or R is a methyl radical and Y is a phthalimido radical, are obtained by reacting malonaldehydates, with ammonia or ammonium salts. t. - Butyl phenylacetamidomalonaldehydate and t.-butyl formamidomalonaldehydate, used as starting materials, are obtained by reacting 2-benzyl- 4-hydroxymethyleneoxazolone with t.-butanol and t.-butyl-N-formylglycinate with potassium t.-butylate and t.-butyl formate.
